Welcome to the choristers page where you will find all the resources and information you need to prepare to sing in the chorus for The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins on Sunday 31 July, 2022, conducted by Carl Crossin OAM.

The Big Sing Chorus will be joined by a Symphony Orchestra of 75 players from Brighton and Marryatville Special Music Centres, joined by professional and semi-professional players and mentors.

This year’s Core Choirs (who fully rehearse the work prior to joining the Big Sing Chorus) are the Elder Conservatorium Chorale (Director Carl Crossin OAM) Marryatville High School Concert Choir (Director Aldis Sils) and Brighton Secondary School Concert Choir (Directors Emma Borgas and Andrew Barrett).

The performance will include The Armed Man Film on the big screen.

Registration for the Big Sing Chorus

Registrations are now open for the Chorus. The pandemic notwithstanding, we hope to present a chorus of 300 voices—our largest chorus ever! There are only a few places left. Your fee of $50 includes the 3 mandatory rehearsals and the performance. Before you register, make sure you are able to commit to the full mandatory schedule.

You will need to purchase a vocal score if you don’t have one already, or source an official version. The Armed Man is subject to copyright and photocopies are not possible. All choristers will need to perform from the official score, without folders.

Those of you who have already taken advantage of the bulk order from Clear Music Australia—the only way to ensure the scores arrived in time—will have your scores posted directly from Clear Music.

If you don’t have a score and haven’t ordered one already, you can still register and let us know that you require a score. We are still working through the possibilities. Email

Learning Tracks

Learning tracks are available for purchase at Choraline. You will need to create a login to use the website and the learning tracks for individual parts cost $18.88 each. You can listen to extended samples on YouTube (which are much better than the short ones on the website) before you buy. Each learning track has the voice part enhanced by a wind instrument. The orchestra parts are played by an organ. Tracks with a singer are available for Sops and Altos only.

Extended samples to try before you buy on YouTube for soprano, alto, tenor, bass

We have also sourced the following tracks from which we have converted to mp3 files.

Suggested Listening on YouTube

Concert pour la Liberté, June 2014

Vocale Neuburg (Sanctus)

Mechels Kathedraalkoor (Benedictus)

Concert Dress

Concert Dress is all black. At present we expect that you will not have to wear a mask, although you can if you wish. Whilst we encourage you to wear a black mask if you have a choice, please wear whatever mask is comfortable and effective for you, whatever colour it may be.
